In 2020 we launched our Customer, People, Planet strategy by implementing our holistic ESG sustainability policy.

Our goal? Become a carbon-, waste-, and water-neutral data center provider by the year 2030, developing and operating a data center platform powered by 100% renewable energy. There is plenty of work still to do, but we are committed to our strategy and putting our all toward positive progress.

Structure Research’s State of the Environmental Impact Report 2023 Ranking

In its 2023 State of the Environmental Impact Report, Structure Research analyzed 29 data center providers and nine hyperscale platforms that have published at least one ESG report.

EdgeConneX was rated highest for efficiency and transparency, showcasing our deep commitment to building and operating data centers sustainably globally.

EdgeConneX and UL Solutions: Case Study

The successful achievement of UL 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill validation at EdgeConneX Amsterdam data centers marked a significant milestone. This validation not only demonstrated our commitment to sustainability but also positioned us as a leader in environmental stewardship within the data center industry.

The validation has already begun to yield tangible benefits. By streamlining our recycling processes and avoiding landfill disposal, we have minimized our environmental impact and contributed to preserving natural landscapes.

Green Finance Framework

EdgeConneX is pleased to publish our Green Finance Framework and accompanying Second-Party Opinion. We intend to allocate an amount equal to 100% of the green financing net proceeds to a portfolio of Eligible Green investments that meet the eligibility criteria set out in the framework. EdgeConneX also maps the project categories to the United Nations SDGs.

iMasons Climate Accord

EdgeConneX is also proud to be one of the Founders of the iMasons Climate Accord (ICA), a historic cooperative of companies committed to reducing carbon in digital infrastructure materials, products, and power.
The ICA represents an unprecedented collaboration among leading digital infrastructure companies to accelerate the journey to carbon neutrality. Today, these companies, including EdgeConneX, are combining forces to compound the efforts of these firms to make meaningful and sustained progress toward that goal.

Sustainable Procurement Strategy

We are committed to undergoing a sustainable transformation by 2030. As part of this strategy, we want to become a carbon neutral data center platform by 2030. For EdgeConneX, procurement of products, goods and services makes up a large part of our Scope 3 emissions. This strategy document outlines the aims, scope, and guiding principles for our procurement policies and our expectations for partners and suppliers.

Netherlands Environmental Management Policy

The Amsterdam EdgeConneX Edge Data Center has been purpose-built and precisely located to provide a secure colocation facility for customers. They offer 5,780 m2 facility and 2,920 m2 of raised floor for tenant racks. The international company meets the standards of ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI.
